I'm Mmmmellllllttttttinnggg

Boy, summer finally decided to arrive with a vengence this week.  Temps in the 90's (F) with approximately 10000% humidity. Ick.

I'm getting the urge to stitch more lately.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to carve out any time to actually sit and stitch.  I had planned to do so yesterday and today, but things have come up and ended up not having the time after all.  So I'll shoot for next week.  Just to show that I have been putting a couple of stitches in each week, I will post an update picture.  I should make it a "Spot the Difference" between this one and the last photo as the progress is more hopeful than actual, lol.

I finished the first sock of the next pair:

I seem to be on a Halloween theme today without intending to.  My next pair of socks will also fall into this category.

Happy stitching and stay cool!

Drive By Post

Hello, all.  Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July.

Finished another pair of socks.

These were made with String Theory Colorworks Oxidane in Continuum.  So soft and yummy!  Now it just needs to get cold, lol.

I have another shawl on the needles and now a new pair of socks.  I expect the socks will be done first.  I'm really liking the (somewhat) instant gratification of the socks.  And I'm in a stripey mood.  Which is good since I tend to buy a lot of stripey yarn and I need to knit up some stash.  It's getting a little out of control.

I have had an urge now and then to stitch, but I just can't seem to sit still long enough to put needle to fabric.  Although, I did dig out my knot garden and put in a few (really, like 20) stitches.  I was thinking of digging out that Mill Hill I started.....can't remember when....and make that my August project.  Maybe I could squeak out one measly stitching finish this year.

I'm hoping to get some home improvement projects done this year, too.  I actually finally (!) painted a door to get it ready to hang a blind.  It's been waiting for me to get around to for at least 5 (yes, FIVE) years.  Did I ever mention I was the Queen of Procrastination?  I needed to paint an area of the ceiling, too, and nearly had a major paint disaster.  Managed clean-up with only a tiny dribble of paint on the carpet which cleaned up fine.  (And yes, I had a drop cloth down, but moved over to get a small spot and was literally an inch off the drop cloth).  And therein lies the reason I procrastinated for so long because I am a catastrophe waiting to happen on the best of days, lol.  But time for knitting and stitching may be even more limited once I get started, but it will be so nice to finally get some stuff done around here!

Happy Stitching,

Tamara

Big Update

And apparently, it goes from bad to worse, lol.  I'm even farther behind reading blogs and I see I have a few new followers.  Welcome!  I haven't been so slack about posting in the past.  There seems to be so much less free time lately for some reason.  I am really missing those long, lazy summer days when I was a kid.  Now, I get up in the morning and before I know it I'm climbing back in bed to do it all over again. And the to-do pile doesn't seem to shrink appreciably at the end of the day or week or month, for that matter.  Vacation?  What's that??

I do have some projects to share, however, so all is not lost.

First up, I haven't been stitching much over the last several months, but there are finally enough new stitches in Nature's Little Helper I can finally post an update.  I'd really like my stitching mojo to revisit for awhile again.  I officially have three corners done.

Next, a new shawl.  This is Fragile Heart by Boo Knits.  The yarn is actually a hot fuscia pink, not so much red as the picture looks.  The yarn is Dragonfly Fibers Pixie in Walking on the Sun.

And new socks.  These are Jamaican Me Crazy in String Theory Coloworks Entanglement in Binary System.

Two new projects are on the needles.  Not much to show on those, yet, so I'll keep you in suspense.  Hopefully, not for so long this time, but I'm not making any promises, lol.

Happy Stitching!

MIA

I know, I know.  I've been bad about visiting.  And I'm really, really behind on reading blogs, too.  Ah, well, such is life sometimes.  I've been stitching very little, so no real incentive to blog about nothing.  I did finish a pair of socks in the past week or two and have started a new pair.

Helen Socks
Lorna's Laces Solemate

Helen Socks by verybusymonkey.  (Well, I was going to link it, but Blogger doesn't want to cooperate).  These were done in Lorna's Laces Solemate in Magnificent Mile.

And I have started Jamaican Me Crazy by Adrienne Fong.

I've been spending more time getting back to my genealogy after about a six month hiatus.  I'm currently contemplating doing a separate blog on that, but do I really need another thing to keep up with??  No, but I feel it would help me organize my thoughts.  I'm also struggling with questions of privacy (I would not put living people on the blog, but still...).  I may start a private blog and then decide whether to delete it or make it public at a later date.  Just like with this blog, I so enjoy reading about other's projects and far away places and I'd like to think I can contribute and inspire and encourge others as I have been.  Or we're all just show-offs and braggarts and this is how we do it?  Or maybe that's just me.

Happy Stitching or whatever it is you're doing,

AWOL

Well, we all know life gets in the way of fun sometimes.  Work is doing it's level best to turn me into a raving lunatic and other bits and pieces are adding to the stress.  Haven't been doing much stitching, but I did manage to finally finish page 15 (or is it 16 now?  I've lost count again) on Nature's Little Helper.

I finished the Nine to Five socks.

And I've started the infamous Pomatomus socks which I have been coveting since before I started knitting socks.  (I'm substituting M1's for the YO's).

Good news is, spring is springing around these parts.  We're supposed to see the sun again soon, which there has been precious little of this year it seems.  I still have a bajillion things to get done, so I guess I'd better get cracking.

Happy Stitching!

As The Sock Turns...Part 2

Ah, sweet success.

Nine to Five Socks

One sock down, one to go.  Once I got the sizing issue figured out, it went pretty quickly.

Now the rest of the afternoon will be spent starting it's mate and stalking the mailman for some goodies I ordered last week.

Maybe one of these days I will get back to the cross stitching.  I should have had the page I'm working on done long ago!  Maybe by the end of the month, I will finally have progress to show you.  I'm so blah about NLH, it's hard to get motivated to work on it, but I am really, really trying to be good and not start Curl Up With A Good Book until it is done.  My willpower is waning, though.  I think I'm in need of a good long stitching weekend!

Happy Stitching!
